Job Purpose/Mission Â

As part of the ENGIE Benin management team, the Head of Mini Grids Benin will be responsible for the overall strategic planning, financial management and operational activities related the Mini Grid activity in Benin. He or she will supervise construction of new Mini Grid sites, technical operations, sales, credit and stakeholder relations related to the Mini Grid activities. The head of Mini Grids has P&L responsibility for the Mini Grids activities in Benin. He / She will also contribute to overall strategy and leadership of the Mini Grids operations.

The Head of Mini Grids will primarily be responsible for managing construction, operation, and maintenance of Mini Grids, ensuring health and safety is protected on all sites, and implementing initiatives to stimulate demand for power and grow revenues at the Mini Grid sites.

Responsibilities

Strategy, planning, and execution: Develop and execute a strategy to make Mini Grids in Benin a success. Set, curate, and communicate the vision for Mini Grids in Benin. Lead, iterate, support, and grow all Mini Grids activities in , target, and incentive setting: Ensure the team has clear goals, targets, and incentives to support growth in key areas. Construction, operations, and maintenance of mini grid sitesDirectly manage construction of new mini grids across the country with adherence to health and safety, time and budget. Responsible for ensuring the commissioned sites are well managed, efficient, and well maintained. Oversee all operations on the mini grid sitesLicensing and Regulation: Ensure that all regulatory approvals and applicable licenses are in place for EEA to conduct its business activities. HSEResponsible and accountable for Health, Safety, and Environment across all the Mini Grids sites Team supervisionSupervise and build a mission aligned, high performing, and passionate mini grid team across the country Ensuring that EEA has the talent and skills we need to achieve our ambitious targets. Recruitment and retention of top talent, training and mentorship, building mini grid knowledge and capacity within the team, promoting EEA values, and proactively addressing underperformance. Commercial and financial managementOversee Mini Grids Beninâs financial performance at the highest level by providing support and strategic guidance to the finance team and departments to properly budget, forecast, and review expenses and revenues. Create and develop the commercial activities in line with the investment committee approved business plan Responsible for meeting revenue targets and for the mini grid P&L Global best practices: Collaborate with other Mini Grids teams & EEA Global team to leverage best practices, implement best practices from abroad and brainstorm solutions to common challenges.

Knowledge and skills Â

Experience :

Must have strong project management experience, particularly experience managing construction projects and Health and Safety regulations At least 5 years of leadership experience; at least 2 of which in a multi-functional organization with large teams Ability to read, interpret and take relevant and nimble action on a P&L and financial statements Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills (French & English) Experience in cultivating strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, whether in a boardroom or customerâs off-grid home Excellent judgement and ability to work autonomously with a team in pursuit of innovative and aggressive stretch goals

Qualifications :

Bachelorâs degree in an Engineering discipline. MBA or Masterâs degree will be an added advantage.
