Position: Industrial Painters
Work Location: British Columbia
Type of Employment: Full time–permanent
Estimated Start Date: As soon as possible
Salary: $26.00 per hour, 40 hours per week.

Job Description 

● Select appropriate paint or mix paints to desired colors and consistencies as per

specifications

● Operate various types of equipment such as media blast pots and spray guns

● Spray with consistent millage and to product specification

● Full understanding of how paint equipment works, and how to maintain and rebuild it

● Apply coatings through brush and roll, conventional, airless, and plural spray systems

● Able to identify incorrect preparation of parts to be coated (surface prep, correct

masking, etc.)

● Prepare and apply stencils, decals or other decorative items on finished products

● Check proper thickness of plating using micrometers, calipers or other devices.

● Able to use a dry film gauge when required

● Able to perform accurate temperature checks to ensure proper cure of coating

● Read and interpret drawings/specifications accurately

● Prepare and mix metallizing solutions according to formulas or specifications

● Clean and maintain equipment

● Operate and control: electroplating equipment to coat metal, hot-dip metal plating equipment to galvanize metal and/or spray equipment to build up worn or damaged

parts

● Tend automatic metal coating machines which convey objects through a series of cleaning, rinsing and plating solutions

● Operate a variety of industrial sandblasting and painting equipment

● Maintain detailed job logs for each shift

● Observe all site specific safety protocols and report concerns

● Paint small items and apply touch-ups using paint brushes

● Ability to read and understand customer Powder spec sheets

● Able to read, and understand product data sheets

● Drive to and from different work locations

● Organize and maintain inventory

● Clean work area


Requirements 

1. Education: secondary school education is required. National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) and or The Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC) certifications are a strong asset.

2. Experience: at least 1 year of experience in the field is required.

3. Application methods: Knowledge working with brush or pencil, automated spray painting, airless gravity pumps, hand-held spray guns, electrostatic method, plural components.

4. Knowledge of various blast media and surface preparation standards, media blasting techniques, Industrial vacuuming and high-pressure washing techniques are a strong asset. 

5. Work conditions and physical capabilities: bending, crouching, kneeling, combination of sitting, standing, walking, fast-paced environment, handling heavy loads, manual dexterity, overtime required, physically demanding, repetitive tasks, standing for extended periods, hand-eye coordination, attention to detail.

6. Personal Suitability: reliability, flexibility, organized, team player, excellent oral communication

7. Work site environment: At heights, confined spaces, hot, odors, noisy, dusty.

8. Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)

9. Driver’s license is required. 


Benefits 

1. Salary: $26.00 per hour, 40 hours per week.

2. Benefits: Personal protective equipment is provided. Transportation costs covered if a worker needs to relocate (airfare tickets). Accommodation is provided at a discounted rate.


Important information

Flexibility on schedule is required. The candidate will work Monday through Friday, from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. Overtime (extended hours) may be required based on the business needs.
